STEUBEN COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Tyler Michael Curtis, of LaGrange, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Thursday night vehicle crash in Steuben County.
Curtis, 16, was killed in a crash that seriously injured his younger brother near Orland Thursday night.
According to reports, Curtis was operating a vehicle on CR-675W near SR-120 in Orland, when for unknown reasons, perhaps speed related, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle then made contact with a substantial tree.
The vehicle was halved in the crash. Both teens were ejected from the vehicle.
Curtis’ 14-year-old brother was transported to an area hospital with serious unknown injuries.
Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The teens are students at Prairie Heights Community Schools in LaGrange County.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
