NASSAU COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Charles Polevich has been identified as the suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed Robert Maraj on Friday.
Polevich, 70, turned himself in to the police and was arrested Wednesday morning in the hit-and-run death of Maraj on Friday.
Maraj, 64, died after being struck in the hit-and-run collision near Mineola on Friday night.
According to reports, Maraj was on-foot in the area of Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue in Mineola, when he was struck by Polevich’s vehicle, who then fled the scene.
Polevich, who hails from Guam but has a home in the New York, located at, 165 Roselle StMineola, initially got out of his car, observed Maraj lying on the ground, then got back behind the wheel and drove to his home, where he then parked his Volvo in the garage and covered it up.
Maraj was transported to an area hospital where he later died of injuries suffered in the collision.
Minaj confirmed her father’s passing, but did not comment further.
