DC Police Officer Jeffrey Smith Who Responded To Capitol Riot ID’d As Suicide Victim

WASHINGTON, DC. (THECOUNT) — DC Metropolitan Police Department officer, Jeffrey Smith, has been identified as the victim of a recent suicide.

Smith, who responded to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, has died by suicide, according to Washington, D.C.’s police chief. Smith’s death marks the third law enforcement death in the aftermath of the riot.

Smith was among the 850 MPD officers who responded after protesters stormed Congress.
