COLUMBIA COUNTY, GA. (THECOUNT) — Wesley Jordan Gales, of Applong, Georgia, has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting in Columbia County Wednesday night.
Gales, 66, was shot dead by his teenage son while they were on the porch of their Appling home Wednesday.
According to reports, Gales was on the back porch of his home, located at, 3353 Gales Rd in Appling, when his son shot him in the head around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The teen later told investigators “that he had enough of his father abusing his mother,” deputies say.
Deputies arrived to find Gales’ ex-wife, Deborah Gales, there along with their 15-year-old son still at the residence, according to the sheriff’s agency.
The son was interviewed and confessed shooting his father with a .22-caliber Marlin semi-automatic rifle, according to officials.
The teen was charged with murder and transported to youth detention, according to the agency.
