ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Moshe Herzog and David Schneebalg, both of Monsey, New York, have been identified as the victims in a Monday morning vehicle crash in Rockland County.
Herzog, 27, and 26-year-old Schneebalg, were both killed in a vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor near Suffern early Monday.
According to reports, Herzog was operating a Chevrolet Tahoe on North Airmont Road near Exit 14 of the New York State Thruway I-287/87, when the vehicle came into contact with a Peterbilt semi-tractor, operated by 59-year-old Luis A. Velazquez, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, around 1:45 a.m. Monday.
The collision caused both vehicles to exit the roadway and enter a culvert. The Tahoe then burst into flames.
Herzog and Schneebalg were pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma and thermal injuries.
Velazquez became entrapped in his big-rig. He was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
