WOOD COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Brendan Essex of Bloomdale, Ohio, and Michael Borsos of Bradner, Ohio, have been identified as the victims in a double-fatal vehicle crash in Wood County Friday night.

Essex and Borsos, both 18, were killed in a Friday night Jeep crash near Bloom Township.

According to reports, the teens were traveling in a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Jerry City Rd & Bloomdale Rd in Bloomdale, when the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 6:45 p.m. Friday. The vehicle then entered a culvert and flipped over before making contact with a substantial tree near Elmwood High School.

Officials say the vehicle may have experienced a major equipment malfunction causing it to wreck.

Both Borsos and Essex were pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
