CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA. (THECOUNT) — Paul Laney of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Thursday morning shooting in Cumberland County.

Laney, 42, was killed and another man injured in a shooting near Carlisle early Thursday.

According to reports, Laney was operating a vehicle in the area of his West Penn St residence, near Memorial Park in Carlisle, when multiple shots rang out Thursday around 12:10 a.m.

Laney’s vehicle was struck by gunfire causing it to wreck near West Penn Street and North West Street.

According to police, the Laney suffered “significant injuries” in the shooting.

Laney was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle also suffered gunshot wounds and fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. He was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition by private vehicle.
