HANCOCK COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Ronald and Julie Sheets, of Spencerville, Ohio, have been identified as the victims in a Tuesday night fatal three-wheel motorcycle crash on Interstate 75 in Hancock County.
Julie Sheets, 60, was killed in a single-motorcycle crash near Finlay Tuesday night. Ron was severely injured in the wreck.
According to reports, Ron was operating a trike with Julie as his passenger on I-75 in Finlay, when for unknown reasons, the trike crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The motorcycle then entered a culvert and rolled over.
Both victims, who were not wearing helmets, were ejected from the motorcycle.
Julie Sheets was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
Ron Sheets, 69, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
