BATON ROUGE, LA. (THECOUNT) — Kaijah Jones of Maurepas, Louisiana, has been identified as the teen victim in a Monday night fatal two-vehicle crash in Ascension Parish.

Jones, 13, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Amant on Monday night.

According to reports, Kimberly Jones, 38, was operating a Nissan Maxima on State Hwy 431 near State Hwy 935 in Amant, when she apparently failed to observe a red light. The vehicle was then T-Boned by a Chevrolet Silverado.

Kaijah, who was a front seat passenger, was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Kimberly suffered unknown injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Possible injuries of the Silverado driver were not provided.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
