WAKE COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Kristina Michaud, of Raleigh, North Carolina, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle overnight in Wake County.

Michaud, 34, was fatally struck by a vehicle on Interstate 540 near Raleigh early Monday morning.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons, Michaud was laying on the roadway on I-549 near Six Forks Road in Raleigh, when she was struck by a passing vehicle around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

The driver, who remained on-scene and cooperated with police, will not face any charges, according to officials.

The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
