WILMINGTON, DE. (THECOUNT) — David Charles Zechman, of Wilmington, Delaware, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 95.

Zechman, 27, died after he fell off the I-95 ramp onto the street below while operating a motorcycle Tuesday morning near M.L.K. Jr. Blvd.

According to the Delaware State Police, Zechman was operating a Yamaha R6 motorcycle on the I-95 ramp near North Adams Street, when he failed to negotiate a turn, made contact with a concrete barrier and was thrown from the bike. He then plunged to the street below near MLK around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials estimate Zechman fell about 50 feet to the street below.

Zechman was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

The motorcycle remained on the ramp above after the wreck.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
