UPSHUR COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Shawn Derek Shannon, of Gilmer, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Monday night single-vehicle crash in Upshur County.
Shannon, 36, was killed in a Monday night single-vehicle crash near Big Sandy.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Shannon was operating a pickup truck on State Highway 155 near Big Sandy, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 9:15 Monday. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment before rolling over and becoming submerged upside down in a private pond.
Shannon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
