FORT MYERS, FL. (THECOUNT) — New York man, Marlon Palma, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Fort Myers, Florida Saturday night.

Palma, 26, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Fort Myers Saturday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Palma, of Copiague, on Long Island, was operating a Honda Pilot on I-75, near the Bayshore overpass, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 10:40 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle then side-swiped a center median guardrail causing it to rollover before coming to a rest on the shoulder.

An FHP report said Palma, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the SUV, reports News-Press.

Palma was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
