LECOMPTON, KS. (THECOUNT) — Wellsville police officer, Bryon Virtue, of Ottawa, Kansas, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday morning double-fatal vehicle crash in Lecompton.
Virtue, 30, was killed along with a woman who has not yet been identified Saturday morning in Douglas County.
According to officials, two vehicles collided in 700 block of N. 1800 Road near K-10 Saturday morning around 5:30 a.m.
Virtue was transported from the scene to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The woman operator of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s unclear if Virtue was on-duty at the time of the wreck.
Further details about the crash weren’t immediately made available.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
