SANTA ROSA COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Trudy Mount Pittman of Crestview, Florida, has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash in Santa Rosa County Wednesday night.
Pittman, 70, was killed after she was rear-ended by a Freightliner semi-tractor on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol, Pittman was operating a Nissan Sentra on I-10, when big-rig driver, Travis Smith, 40, of Orlando, took evasive action, while attempting to avoid the Nissan. The front of the Freightliner collided with the rear of Nissan.
Both vehicles came to rest facing in a northwesterly direction, blocking the right lane of westbound Interstate 10, reports PNJ.
Pittman was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Smith was uninjured in the violent crash.
Charges are pending investigation.
