IREDELL COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — A Thursday morning crash killed three road workers on Interstate 40 in Iredell County, North Carolina.
The triple-fatal crash left three construction workers dead shuttering I-40 Thursday morning in Iredell County. North Carolina, according to state troopers.
The deadly incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. in a construction zone in the westbound lanes of I-40 near mile marker 157, a few miles east of Statesville.
The deceased workers were with a contractor doing work for the NCDOT in the area.
Channel9 is reporting that the workers were fatally struck by a box truck in the construction zone.
No charges have been filed but troopers said the investigation is ongoing.
