COBB COUNTY, GA. (THECOUNT) — Retired Atlanta court judge, Elaine Lynn Carlisle, was identified as the victim in a fatal Atlanta vehicle crash Friday.
Carlisle, 65, was killed Friday afternoon while operating a vehicle on I-75, according to Saturday reports.
Officials say, Carlisle was operating a Mercedes C300 on I-75 near Cumberland Boulevard SE, when for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle and exited the roadway. The vehicle then entered opposing lanes before being colliding with a Chevrolet Express van.
After the initial collision, the Mercedes then traveled across all lanes of I-75 southbound before making contact with a concrete median.
Carlile, who officials say was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered a serious head injury and was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the van, identified as 38-year-old Douglasville resident Freddie Hodge, was also taken to Kennestone Hospital after he complained of chest pains, reports FOX5.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
