LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC. (THECOUNT) — Pamela Adams Powell, of Columbia, South Carolina, has been identified as the victim killed after a tree fell on her vehicle while traveling on Interstate 20 in Lexington County on Thursday morning.

Powell, 49, was operating a vehicle on I-20 when a tree fell and struck her vehicle late Thursday morning.

The fatal incident occurred around Thursday 11:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the I-20, as Powell drove in slow moving traffic and a substantial tree fell and made contact with her vehicle.

Powell was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

According to Facebook, Powell was a registered nurse at Morris Village Alcohol & Drug Treatment Center. She was an LPN at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care and Palmetto Health Baptist. She was South Carolina State University grad where she studied MA rehabilitation counseling.

The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
