WARREN COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Peter Maynard, of Berryville, VA, has bee identified as the pilot killed in a Sunday afternoon glider crash in Warren County.
“Pete” Maynard, 65, was killed when a glider aircraft he was operating went down in Front Royal, located in northern Virginia on Sunday afternoon.
The fatal crash occurred at around 1:35 p.m. on the 400 block of Stokes Airport Road in Warren County, according to Virginia State Police.
The glider aircraft was attempting to either land or take off when it collided with several trees, reports WRIC.
Maynard was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one on the ground was injured in the crash, VSP said.

The FAA and NTSB were notified of the crash, which remains under investigation.
