FOUNTAIN INN, SC. (THECOUNT) — Matthew James Holcombe, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash near Greenville County Thursday Night.
Holcombe, 21, was killed in a fatal SC-418 pickup truck crash about four miles east of Fountain Inn on Thursday night.
According to troopers, Holcombe was operating a Toyota pickup truck on SC-418, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The pickup then entered a culvert before making contact with a tree.
Holcombe, who was wearing a seatbelt, became entrapped in the Toyota and had to be extracted from the truck by first responders.
Holcombe was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
