DALLAS, TX. (THECOUNT) — Deja Matts, 19, and Abbaney Matts, 20, have been identified as the victims killed in the Monday morning shooting at Pride Rock residence hall on the Texas A&M campus in Commerce.

Abbaney Matts’ son has been released from the hospital and is in the care of family, reports MyNews13.

Original story: Two people are dead and another person has been transported to an area hospital, following a shooting at Texas A&M University-Commerce Pride Rock Residence Hall on Monday, according to university officials.

All three people suffered gunshot injuries, two of them fatal, officials said.

A shelter-in-place was lifted after being in place for about two hours, but the dorm and surrounding areas remain blocked off, reports KHOU.

All classes have been canceled for the rest of Monday at the Commerce campus.

Officers are stationed throughout the campus and those displaced by the investigation can go to Rayburn Student Center in the meantime, officials said.

Counselors will also be available at the student center for anyone who would like assistance.

Pride Rock Residence Hall is a three-story residence hall open to first-year students.

Authorities have not said whether a suspect is in custody yet.
