JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Austen Hunter, of Jackson Township, NJ, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Ocean County on Friday night.
Hunter, 19, died in the crash that injured Hasson Renouf, 23 of Jackson.
According to reports, Jackson was traveling in a Chrysler Sebring Friday around 10:30 p.m., when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The vehicle then came into contact with a grouping of tree before coming to a rest.
The fatal crash occurred near a bridge in the vicinity of the Pine Barrens Golf Club, reports Patch.
The driver and passenger both had to be extricated from the vehicle, police said.
Both victims were transported to area hospitals where Hunter later was pronounced dead.
Jackson is listed in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the wreck is asked to contact police.
