DODGE CITY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Vanessa Guzman, of Dodge City, Kansas, has been identified as the victim fatally struck during a Dodge City Police SUV crash Saturday morning.
Guzman, 26, was killed after her vehicle was struck by a police SUV where the officer was responding to a “break-in in progress” on 28th Ave just before 5 a.m., according to police.
The police cruiser crashed into a northbound car at the intersection of West Wyatt Earp Boulevard & Matt Down Road in Dodge, KS.
The police SUV hit the passenger side of the car, and the car’s driver was thrown from her vehicle. The press release states officers “attempted to provide lifesaving efforts until EMS arrived,” but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the only person in the car, reports KAKE.
The driver of the police SUV was in stable condition at a hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
