ROCKWOOD, ME. (THECOUNT) — Steven Kenneth Allard, of South Hampton, New Hampshire, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Maine snowmobile accident Sunday night.
Allard, 56, was traveling on a snowmobile, when it apparently fell through the ice on Moosehead Lake near Moose River in Maine on Sunday night.
According to officials, Allard and his wife, Tiffany, were operating snowmobiles returning to Rockwood Cottages around 9 p.m. when Allard broke through the ice.
Rescuers pulled Allard from the lake about 10:15 p.m., but he was unresponsive, reports BangorDailyNews.
Attempts to resuscitate Allard were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The Maine Warden Service, Rockwood Fire and Rescue and U.S. Border Patrol assisted in the rescue.
