SAN DIEGO, CA. (THECOUNT) — People in San Diego, California are wondering what caused an earth shaking boom on Wednesday.
People throughout the San Diego County area reported hearing the mysterious thunderous boom Wednesday afternoon.

Dozens of San Diego Residents in La Jolla and Del Mar took to Twitter after hearing the noise before 12:45 p.m., reports 10News.
“Felt it in La Jolla / Windansea – even my dogs started barking,” one Twitter user said, referring to the noise.
Several people wondered whether or not an earthquake could be to blame, but according to the United States Geological Survey, the nearest earthquake was a 2.9 magnitude near Corona reported at 4:16 a.m. Wednesday.
10News reports reaching out to military officials to see whether or not military exercises may have caused the boom.
