COLUMBIA, MD. (THECOUNT) — Nazia Gill, of Ellicott City, MD, has been identified as the mother struck by a vehicle Monday along with her 6-year-old boy in Columbia. The boy was killed in the collision.
Gill, 39, was injured and her child killed after they were struck by a vehicle near Harpers Farm Road & Twin Rivers Road, near Wilde Lake Tennis Club in Columbia, MD Monday afternoon.
According to police, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Harpers Farm Road and Twin Rivers Road around 2 p.m. Monday. Both victims were transported to local hospitals where the boy was later pronounced dead.
Gill suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the two were struck while in the crosswalk, reports FOX5DC.
The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.
No charges have been filed at this time and the collision is under investigation.
