RICHMOND, VA. (THECOUNT) — Joshua Michael Carter, of North Chesterfield, Virginia, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a train in Richmond early Sunday morning.
“Josh” Carter, 36, was killed after he was struck by a train in Richmond on Sunday, police say.
According to officials, Carter was on-foot in the area of 2500 Hopkins Road in Richmond, VA, when he was fatally struck by a passing train around 4 a.m. Sunday.
According to officials, officers responded to a call of a man down on the tracks near Hopkins Road. When police arrived, they found Carter, of 2601 Colony Village Ter, APT 301 – unresponsive near the tracks.
Carter was pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma.
Amtrak detectives also responded and is assisting Richmond Police and CSX with the ongoing investigation, reports WRIC.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
