CO Corrections Officer Khurtis Maasch Arrested On Child Sex Charges Friday

FOUNTAIN, CO. (THECOUNT) — Colorado Springs man, Khurtis Maasch, a Corrections Officer with the Colorado Department of Corrections, is facing two counts of sexual assault on a child and three counts of internet luring of a child.

The Fountain Police Department announced the arrest of Maasch, 31, on Friday after starting an investigation into a report of sexual assault on a 14-year-old.

Maasch is also employed as a Corrections Officer with the Colorado Department of Corrections. He was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, reports KKTV.

Police believe there could be other possible victims. “We would also like to thank the Colorado Department of Corrections for their assistance in this investigation,” Fountain Media Relations Officer Lisa Schneider wrote in a release.

A statement was provided by the Colorado Department of Corrections:

“Our department is appalled by the alleged behavior of Mr. Maasch,”said Annie Skinner, Public Information Officer for the Department of Corrections. “We thank the Fountain Police Department for their work, and will assist them in any way we can. The alleged incidents and actions happened outside of our facility, and go against everything we stand for as a department. Mr. Maasch will be suspended from the department as the proper next steps are taken in accordance with the state personnel rules.”
