FOLSOM, CA. (THECOUNT) — Todd James Kern, of El Dorado Hills, California, has been identified as the driver killed in a crash off Highway 50 in Folsom on Tuesday.

Kern, 38, died in a single-vehicle crash while traveling on Highway 50 near Folsom Tuesday, according to Wednesday reports.

Police say, Kern was operating a pickup truck on Highway 50 near the E. Bidwell Street onramp, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning. The vehicle then made contact with a substantial tree before coming to a rest.

Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but a small pickup truck ended up off the road, reports Sacramento.CBSlocal.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
