FORT PIERCE, FL. (THECOUNT) — Folks walking on along the beach New Year’s Day on Florida’s Treasure Coast saw what appeared to be a mysterious rocket launch Wednesday morning.
Cape Canaveral had no scheduled launches today so the identity of the object is unclear.

Photos taken by John Simard of Fort Pierce show the object barrling skyward followed by a long trail of thruster fire.
Several viewers from Vero Beach to Fort Pierce told NewsChannel 5 they saw the object, which was located east of the shore and out in the Atlantic Ocean, reports WPTV.
