PANOLA COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Panola County deputy Chris Dickerson has been identified officer shot and killed in the line of duty early Tuesday morning, according to reports.
According to officials, Dickerson was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Panola County Sheriff Kevin Lake confirmed the incident on Twitter.
The Texas Rangers are on scene and a press release, expected to be issued later in the day, will provide more information on the fatal shooting, according to CBS19.
Dickerson’s next of kin have been notified.
