Vista CA Woman Involved In Monday Escondido Vehicle Crash Dies In Hospital Says Family

ESCONDIDO, CA. (THECOUNT) — A 29-year-old Vista, California woman, believed to have been a Congressional whistleblower, was killed after, for unknown reasons, she lost control of a pickup truck she was operating on an Escondido roadway, according to reports. The pickup then crossed the path of an oncoming big rig, authorities said.

The incident occurred last Monday on Interstate 15 near state Route 78, California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Mark Latulippe said in a statement.

Officials say, they do not know why the woman lost control of her Ford Ranger, but said the truck “slid out of control.” It then continued into opposing lanes.

A Freightliner semi-trailer hauling two dump trailers collided with the woman’s pickup.

The trucker was unable to avoid hitting the Ranger and struck the passenger side of the pickup, Latulippe said. A 19-year-old Santee woman in a Toyota 4Runner was unable to avoid the nearby collision in front of her and struck the Ranger, reports SanDiegoUnionTribune.

The Vista woman was transported to an area hospital where she is believed to have since passed away, according to a family member.

A man, believed to be the woman’s husband, announced on Twitter that she had passed away in an area hospital of injuries sustained in the crash.

“My beautiful wife Misti, a published poet, succumbed last night to injuries sustained in a car accident. I was supposed to die in your arms some day, but a slippery road has ruined everything. You were not just my love, you were my greatest adventure,” the man wrote on Twitter December 27.

Because of the woman’s whistleblower status, TheCount.news is not identifying her by name.

No further information was provided by officials on the incident.
