CRESTON, IA. (THECOUNT) — Samantha Long, a senior at Orient-Macksburg in Orient, IA, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Sunday night single-vehicle crash near Creston, according to Monday morning reports.
“Sammi” Long, a 2019 homecoming queen nominee, was killed Sunday after the SUV she was driving crashed near Union near York Ave.
According to officials, Long was operating a Chevy Trailblazer on York Ave near 330th St, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The vehicle then entered a field, struck a culvert and rolled multiple times.
Long was ejected from the vehicle during the wreck, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
