SARASOTA, FL. (THECOUNT) — David Boland of Ave Maria, Florida, has been identified as the victim in a fatal multi-motorcycle crash near Sarasota on Wednesday, according to Thursday morning reports.

Boland, 56, was riding with a group of motorcycle riders on Interstate 75 in Sarasota, when for unknown reasons, he lost control and came into contact with a big-rig Wednesday night.

The crash caused several motorcycle riders to go down on I-75 near Fruitville Road on Wednesday night around 7:30 p.m.

Those riders have been identified as 55-year-old Roger Moore of Sarasota, 40-year-old Michael Houck of Sarasota, 51-year-old Donald Kidwell of Venice, and David Mashia of Venice, reports Fox4Now.

All four men were transported to area hospital with serious injuries.

Boland was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say charges are pending in the deadly crash but did not elaborate.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
