IN Man Phillip Casebolt ID’d As BMW Driver Killed In Thursday Night Richmond Police Chase

RICHMOND, IN. (THECOUNT) — Phillip Casebolt, of Richmond, Indiana, has been identified as the driver killed in a crash after leading police on a high speed chase, according to officials.

Authorities say, Casebolt, 36, was killed in a crash after he fled from police for unknown reasons on Thursday night around 11:30 p.m., RPD reported.

According to the Richmond Police Department, officers attempt to conduct a traffic stop on a black 2008 BMW close to 14th St. and National Rd. West., when the vehicle failed to yield.

Police said the BMW traveled at a high rate of speed on National Rd. West, and continued through a parking lot near SW 2nd St. and National Rd. West, continuing south on SW 2nd St.

The BMW briefly stopped in the 200 Block of SW 2nd St. and the driver refused to obey commands to surrender, reports CBS4INDY.

RPD said the BMW again fled south on SW 2nd at a high rate of speed when it wrecked on the 1100 Block of Abington Pike.

First responders attempted to administer first aid on Casebolt, but were unsuccessful.

Casebolt was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
