According to a news release, state police used “deadly force” against Oliver, who police say was holding a teen girl hostage in a wooded area near Warrior Run Borough in Luzerne County.

The girl, who was not identified because of her age, was unharmed during the incident, state police said.

Police in Nanticoke responded to a call of a man holding a girl at knifepoint at Greater Nanticoke High School, located at, 425 Kosciuszko St, Nanticoke in PA.

When officers arrived, they attempted to negotiate with Oliver when the girl broke free of him, according to state police.

During a struggle, Oliver sprayed mace on the officers and fled with the marked cruiser and the girl, state police said.

Police, who had obtained a warrant to arrest Oliver on charges including kidnapping and aggravated assault, eventually found him in the wooded area, which was then surrounded by police from multiple departments and a state police special response unit, according to state police, reports PennLive.
