SAUNDERS COUNTY, NE. (THECOUNT) — A man was killed after being thrown over a viaduct on Highway 77 near Wahoo Thanksgiving evening in Saunders County.
According to reports, the man had exited his vehicle after being involved in a crash, when a big rig lost control on the ice and struck him. The force of the collision caused the man to be thrown over the viaduct just west of Wahoo.
The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office said the deadly incident involved five vehicles all traveling north on Highway 77.
The sheriff’s office said one of the drivers got out of his car and was checking on another driver after a crash. That’s when deputies say a semi-tractor trailer lost control on the icy viaduct and trailer jackknifed striking the viaduct, reports 1011NOW.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office said there were no other injuries.
