TAMPA, FL. (THECOUNT) — Seffner, Florida woman, Patricia Ann Merek, has been identified as the victim killed in a single-vehicle crash on Tampa Selmon Expressway Wednesday, according to Thursday morning reports.
Merek, 54, was operating a vehicle on FL-618 along the connector to eastbound Interstate 4, when for unknown reasons, she crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around midnight, FHP reports.
The Toyota Camry made contact with a concrete barrier wall causing it to rotate, striking a barrier wall, before coming to a rest.
Merek was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, reports TampaBay.
An investigation into the cause of the crash remains open.
