COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — Brenden Brown, of Columbus, Ohio, has been identified as the victim killed in a shooting and resulting vehicle crash in east Columbus Friday evening, according to local reports.

Brown, 18, was discovered suffering from gunshot injuries inside a crashed vehicle on Friday night around 7 p.m. near Shady Lane in Columbus.

Police say they responded to reports of a vehicle crash in the area of Shady Lane and East Livingston Avenue near Walnut Ridge High School after 7 p.m. Friday evening.

When they arrived they found Brown inside the crashed vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Brown was pronounced dead at at the scene of gunshot injuries.

Witnesses told investigators they believe Brown was driving a vehicle near the scene of a memorial vigil that was being held near the school when he was shot, possibly by a passenger inside his vehicle, reports 10TV.

After he was shot, Brown accelerated south on Shady Lane Road before crashing into several utility poles.

Authorities are still working to determine the motive for the shooting.

Police have not given any information about a suspect at this time.
