MN Man Leroy Davis-Miles To Face Murder Charge After Elderly Man Dies In Hospital Following Metro Bus Punch

MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (THECOUNT) — Leroy Davis-Miles, the suspect charged in connection to an assault of a 75-year-old man, will likely be charged with murder after the elderly man passed away Tuesday as a result of injuries suffered in the attack.

A 75-year-old man, who has not been identified by officials, has died in a hospital after he was punched last week in Minneapolis in the 2900 block of Chicago Avenue.

The senior allegedly asked people on the bus to lower their voices when he was attacked by Davis-Miles.

The assault happened in the afternoon on November 6 in Minneapolis in the 2900 block of Chicago Avenue. According to the charges, the 75-year-old man boarded a Metro Transit bus the same time as a group of young men. Surveillance video shows the man asked the group to not be so loud. In response, the group of young men threatened to attack the 75-year-old man when he got off the bus. When the man got off the bus at the Chicago-Lake Transit Center, the group followed. Surveillance video shows 23-year-old Leroy Davis-Miles punched the man, who fell and hit his head on the pavement, reports FOX10.

Police say the 75-year-old man suffered a serious brain injury. He passed away at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday.

Davis-Miles was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault. Now that the man has passed away, police are working with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office to amend the charges.
