Palm Beach Gardens Plumber ‘James Boyce’ ID’d As Alligator Bite Victim Sunday At DuPuis Management Area

CANAL POINT, FL. (THECOUNT) — James G. Boyce, of Palm Beach Gardens, has been identified as the hunter being treated for “substantial” gator bite Saturday while visiting DuPuis Management Area, according to Sunday reports.

Boyce, 46, operator of Abaco Plumbing, was bitten on the right leg while hunting in the DuPuis Management Area and his current medical condition is unknown, FWC said Sunday in a written statement.

Martin County sheriff deputies and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission:

“Alligators are an important part of Florida’s wetlands,” the statement said. “They help keep aquatic animal populations in balance and keep water holes open for other fish and wildlife,” reports ChipleyPaper.

There are an estimated 1.3 million alligators living in freshwater lakes, slow-moving rivers and wetlands throughout Florida, the statement said. Alligators may also be found in brackish water habitats or anywhere there is standing water.

FWC is continuing to investigate the incident.
