LAVON, TX. (THECOUNT) — The Lavon Police Department is reporting the tragic death of four Brave Nation Community ISD students who were killed in a vehicle crash Tuesday evening, according to Wednesday morning reports.

The four young people were killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on State Highway 78 near North Business 78, according to Lavon officials.

Three other people were transported from the scene to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Around 9:30 p.m. Community ISD officials released a written statement confirming the victims of the fatal crash were students.

The statement from superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens reads:

“The loss of these young lives is a devastating and unimaginable tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones. Right now our focus is on caring for our students and the adults who are grieving the loss of these Braves. We are strong as a Brave Nation, but our hearts are broken as a Community ISD family,” reports KHOU.

Counselors will be available on campus Wednesday morning for staff and students.

Details of the crash were not provided by officials.

Community ISD officials said they will not be releasing the names of the victims out of respect for the families.
