Convicted MA Cocaine Trafficker Roberto Fonseca-Rivera Shot Dead Inside VT Produce Truck Friday

ROCKINGHAM, VT. (THECOUNT) — Roberto Fonseca-Rivera, of Quincy, MA, who was sentenced in 2018 after being convicted of cocaine trafficking, has been identified as the Katsiroubas Produce truck driver found shot dead in Vermont on Friday.

In 2018, Fonseca-Rivera, then 43, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper to one year and one day in prison and three years of supervised release. On Sept. 11, 2017, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute cocaine.

From January 2015 through July 18, 2016, Fonseca-Rivera and four co-defendants, Angel Morales, of Stoughton; Pablo Santiago-Cruz, of Roslindale; Carlos Reyes, of Framingham; and Jorge Montalvo, of Roxbury, received in the mail more than 30 suspicious packages believed to be cocaine. The packages were sent from Puerto Rico to various addresses in Canton, Stoughton, Quincy, and Framingham, where Fonseca-Rivera and Montalvo retrieved the packages for Morales and Montalvo, and Reyes retrieved the packages for Santiago-Cruz, reported the Justice Department in 2018.

On Friday (November 1,) Fonseca-Rivera, 44, of Roslindale, was found suffering from multiple gunshot injuries while making deliveries for the Park-based company, according to Vermont State Police.

Fonseca-Rivera was last seen in his delivery truck leaving Rutland shortly after 12 p.m. on Friday. He was headed southbound on Vermont Route 103., reports NBCBoston.

Later that evening, authorities say Fonseca-Rivera’s body was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside his truck on Route 103 in Rockingham.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred sometime between 1p.m. and 1:30p.m. on Friday. An autopsy is underway to confirm the cause of death.

Anyone with possible information should contact police at 911.
