BELLEVUE, NE. (THECOUNT) — Matthew Brenden, the Omaha teen who survived being shot outside the Kroc Center in June of 2018, has been identified as the body found on Falkland Park on Sunday, according to reports.

According to a release, police arrived to the park on reports of a man down. When they arrived, police determined that the man was deceased.

Police said that they do not believe Brenden “died of natural causes,” according to the release.

Faulkland Park is located on Schroeder Drive in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Brenden was injured in a shooting in summer 2018:

Jamil Phillips was booked into Douglas County Youth Center for two counts of First Degree Felony Assault and two counts of Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony. The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Kroc Center at 27th and Z around 12:45 a.m. Officers responded to a shots fired call and found the two victims: Za’kari Glasgow, 17, and Matthew Brenden, 18, reported WOWT.

This remains under investigation and more details will be released as they become available.
