WINTHROP, MA. (THECOUNT) — Kathryn Adelstein, 28, of Winthrop, and Madeline Lund, 29, of Beverly, have been identified as the victims in a double-fatal DUI crash in Winthrop on Sunday, according to reports.

John Fannin, 30, of Winthrop, is charged with two counts of motor vehicle homicide and operating under the influence of liquor, second offense.

Fannin, who was involved in the fatal crash in Winthrop that killed his two passengers, was arraigned Monday morning.

According to Facebook, Fannin is employed at JetBlue.

An investigation conducted by multiple Massachusetts State Police units indicates that at approximately 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, Fannin was operating a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse northbound on Winthrop Shore Drive in the area of Neptune Avenue when he crossed the solid white fog line line and struck the rear left corner of a parked 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. The Mitsubishi subsequently overturned onto its roof and rotated approximately 180 degrees, reports Beverly.

The investigation is being conducted by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County.
