WATERFORD, PA. (THECOUNT) — Corry, PA man, Nathan Capela, has been identified as the victim in a farming accident in Waterford late Saturday morning, according to reports.
Capela, 35, was killed when he became pinned under a combine harvester hydraulic arm that unexpectedly lost pressure and released, officials said on Saturday evening.
Capela was working at a farm in Waterford Township, located in the 300 block of Dublin Road in Waterford, Waterford Township, PA, when the fatal accident occurred, Erie County Chief Deputy Coroner Nick Rekitt said.
Pennsylvania State Police and other first responders were called to a Waterford residence where they Capela unresponsive and entrapped against the combine, authorities said.
Capela was pronounced dead at the scene due to accidental due to compression asphyxiation, reports GoErie.
“He was entrapped for a length of time,” Rekitt said.
Capela was employed at the farm and was working on the combine harvester when the machine’s hydraulic arm lost pressure and released, trapping him between the arm and the machine, Rekitt said.
According to Facebook, Capela was a planer mill operator at Venango Machine. He was the owner of Grain farming and portable welding, according to Facebook. He graduated Corry Junior, Senior High School.
