IA Man Kevin Dyer Led Des Moines Cops On High-Speed Chase With 8-Year-Old Daughter In Vehicle

DES MOINES, IA. (THECOUNT) — Indianola, Iowa man, Kevin Dyer, has been identified as the suspect arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase that span two counties, according to reports. Officials say Dyer was drunk when he fled police with his 8-year-old daughter inside the vehicle.

Dyer, 37, was arrested early Thursday morning after officials say he led State Troopers on the dangerous chase with his eight-year-old daughter in the vehicle.

According to officials, incident began just before 2:00 a.m. when Story County dispatch broadcast a nationwide parole violation warrant belonging to Dyer after he was believed to be driving drunk from Gilbert to Des Moines, according to Iowa State Patrol.

A State Trooper observed Dyer operating a vehicle on I-35 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Dyer refused to stop and instead began a pursuit that reached speeds of 133 MPH.

He then drove through Ankeny and into Des Moines and police from both cities assisted in the pursuit.

The chase ended with a PIT maneuver performed near the Iowa State Fairgrounds, in the area of University and E. 28th Street in Des Moines.

Dyer was taken into custody without incident.

Dyer’s daughter was located in the backseat of the vehicle and was shaken but otherwise unharmed.

Dyer is facing multiple charges including: felony eluding, OWI 3rd, child endangerment, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, and unlawful possession of a prescription drug, reports WHOTV.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 7th.

Dyer’s Facebook page makes no mention of being the father to a child.
