‘Heart Of Gold’ Former NFL Player Terrell Roberts Shot Dead Near San Francisco Wednesday

RICHMOND, CA. (THECOUNT) — Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Terrell Roberts was shot and killed Wednesday in California while visiting his grandmother, according to reports.

Roberts, 38, was shot and killed in the San Francisco area Wednesday night when someone entered his grandmother’s home and ended up shooting Roberts in the backyard, local news stations reports Thursday morning.

The deadly incident occurred in the 1200 block of Fascination Circle, in Richmond, CA.

Roberts played with the Bengals for two seasons from 2003-2005. He was drafted by Cincinnati on May 1, 2003, after going undrafted in the 2003 NFL Draft. He was released by the Bengals in October 2005. Roberts appeared in 23 games for the Bengals, according to NBC4i.

He played college football at Oregon State University and attended El Cerrito High School in El Cerrito, California.

No suspects are in custody as of Thursday afternoon.

Officials provided no further information.

Roberts’s family said he had a “heart of gold” and had no known enemies. They said he was not “mixed up in anything bad.”
