JOPLIN, MO. (THECOUNT) — Kadin Roberts-Day, a student athlete at Joplin High School, has been identified as the teen who died Wednesday following football practice, according to a telephone message sent to parents from Superintendent Melinda Moss.
According to reports, the JSH sophomore experienced a “medical emergency” following conditioning training and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, Moss said.
Emergency personnel responded at approximately 5:30 p.m. today to Kaminsky Gymnasium inside JHS, where the Eagles Were practicing indoors, the message said.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart we can share the loss of Kadin Roberts-Day,” she said in her statement, adding that JHS coaches said he was “an extremely personable and caring student.”
“Counseling services have been made available to any student or staff needing support and will continue for the coming days,” she said, reports JoplinGlobe.
A cause of death was not provided by school officials.
