After pulling over near N 51st & W. Capitol, Smith exited her vehicle to talk to the other driver. At some point the man displayed a firearm and opened fire striking Smith.

The suspect then fled the scene.

Her son, who witnessed the fatal shooting, then drove his mortally wounded mother to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

Police later located the suspect and placed him under arrest, Milwaukee Police said.

He is a 35-year-old man and formal charges are in the works, officials said on Tuesday morning.

The suspect’s identity was not provided by officials.

Smith’s father blamed her death on reckless driving and road rage, reports WAFB.
